Parent SocietyBarrow Hills would not be Barrow Hills without our Parent Society. The BHPS (Barrow Hills Parent Society) fundraises and fun raises through events during the school year. We host a Hog Roast at the start of the school year as being an ideal get-together for children, parents and staff. Our Firework Display is legendary, as is the Christmas Fayre. The Quiz & Curry night is always a sell-out during the dark winter nights, and is great as long as the Head's team doesn't win! Our major parents' do is the summer event, which is always fancy dress and features at least one live band. The BHPS is more than this, though, because it brings together the parent community, acts as a sounding board between the Head and the parents, and looks to support the school in any way it can. In a typical year we raise around £15,000 which is spent on something special for the children to enhance their time here, and also to support the charity fundraising of the children themselves, namely the Lent Appeal and the Summer Fete. We are always looking for enthusiastic members who want to be involved in school life and help make a difference to the community. One catch - your child needs to come here, so you had better visit the school and join in the fun. Jon Garman, Chairman BHPS |
