Pastoral careOur community is our strength and we are proud of our 'outstanding' rating of Pastoral Care in our most recent Inspection Report. We believe kindness, empathy and honesty are values needed alongside a vigorous and challenging curriculum to equip our children to be successful, not only whilst at Barrow Hills but also as part of our future society. Christian values are instilled from the very start of each child's time at Barrow Hills. Our youngest children learn to share, to lead and serve, to take turns, to listen and to be listened to. In any community with children of our age range, there is the possibility that a child may make the wrong decision or do something they shouldn't. However, we are confident that the education which children receive at Barrow Hills will help them to aquire an increased awareness of how their actions and thoughts have an impact on the lives of those around them. Barrow Hills staff are always vigilant to inculcate the right way to behave in a community and are there to provide guidance should a child make the wrong choice. We feel that it is important that every child should have someone they can talk to at school when they need to. Our Chaplain, Gillie Nicholls, holds informal 'drop-in' sessions which have proved to be much appreciated. The teaching staff regularly discuss the pastoral progress of every child and reporting on this aspect forms a key part of our regular parental meetings.
