Service and leadership

Alongside the rigour of our academic work, the provision of opportunities to lead and serve are vital in helping our children grow in character and to inculcate values and skills that will help them to be successful not only in our community but also in their senior school and, as adults, in future society.

From the age of three, children are given the experience of being the class leader and a class helper.  As the children grow through the school, this develops into opportunities to join the School Council, hear younger children read and act as the captain of a sports team.

In the Summer Term, all Year 7 children are invited to nominate an area of school life in which they feel they can give some service and leadership.   Following this, throughout their time in Year 8, all the children play an active role in the school. In addition to this we have four senior prefects, House Captains and Captains of Art, Drama, Music and of each of the major games played at Barrow Hills.
