DramaDrama plays an important part in the lives of our pupils. Starting in Kindy, where it forms an integral part of their lessons, and continuing throughout each child's career up to and including Year 8. In Key Stages 2 and 3, children become more familiar with role-play, improvisation and script work. During the school year, all pupils will take part in a production. We also place importance on ensuring that children have an opportunity to see professional productions and learn how a theatre works. We arrange many opportunities to go to the theatre and have back-stage visits as well as attending performances, and we organise workshops run by visiting actors or theatre companies. LAMDA lessons are also offered as an after-school activity. We place great importance on the development of self-confidence and the ability to speak in public to large audiences. This is achieved by providing all pupils with many opportunities to perform in a range of dramatic productions. These range from the formal annual year group plays or musicals to more informal productions before smaller audiences. Highlights of the year include the annual House Poetry Competition and the House Talent Show which are showcases for children in Years 3 to 8.
