PSHEC

Lessons in Personal, Social & Health Education and Citizenship are designed to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.

PSHEC is taught to all children from Reception upwards for one hour per week, but the values and skills taught are intended to underlie all aspects everything the children do, both at school and elsewhere.

From Reception to Year 5, children work through a scheme called S.E.A.L (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) where they work through topics such as 'Getting On and Falling Out', 'It's Good to be Me', 'Going for Goals' and 'Bullying'.  Discussion is encouraged in all lessons, and children are taught by their form teachers.

In Years 6 to 8, the children attend 'Skills for Life' lessons which include General Knowledge, running a Fair Trade shop, Gardening and Thinking Skills.  We are proud that we can offer our senior pupils such a valuable programme before they move on to their senior schools.
