Spanish

This academic year sees the launch of Spanish for children in Years 5 to 8.

Pupils' well established love and appreciation for languages at Barrow Hills is further enhanced and extended by introducing them to this very popular and fashionable modern language.

Through songs, ICT and drama our children develop together into confident speakers.  Topics in the introductory year include: Personal Identification, Colours, Numbers, Animals and Physical descriptions and grammar is featured regularly to ensure strong foundations.

The Europa Centre in Essex proved a very successful educational visit this year and is certainly one for the future.  Year 5 pupils enjoyed exploring a mock European town and conversed with Spanish and Latin-American native speakers.  Ideas are already being explored to set up a link in northern Spain in order to enhance and enrich the experience of learning this enormously influential language.

The opportunity to sit Common Entrance in Spanish will follow.
