SportWe are very proud of the programme of sport that is offered at Barrow Hills. Our main aim is to instil a life-long love of sport into each child so that they can gain self-confidence and skills from participation, and an understanding and appreciation of others from observation. Every child, from Kindy through to Year 8, is taught PE and Games by specialist staff. This makes a substantial difference to the skills acquired by all the pupils. From Year 3 (Under-8), we introduce competitive inter-school matches at cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and rugby. All the pupils, regardless of their ability, are given the opportunity to participate in these matches on a regular basis. Athletics, gymnastics and swimming are also regarded as core subjects, with badminton, basketball and volleyball being introduced to the older pupils. Our bi-annual sports tour to Europe is a great success with the Years 7 and 8 pupils. John Hatcher, Director of Sport |
